Yankees Dynasty or Yankees Spectacle?? The Demise Continues in 2008.
The curse of Joe Torre continues at Yankee Stadium. By dropping the first two games against Boston on August 26th and August 27th, they have put themselves in real contention for a long winter vacation. But as I sit here and worry about the economy and the effects on my job, I cannot help but to start laughing. You can blame the pitching as much as you want, but when there is no offense whatsoever, how can the pitching even compete! Kevin Long, if you sleep at night, then you need to go to Hank’s office and hand in your resignation asap. This is the most ridiculous offense I have ever seen. If the Yankees didn’t get Xavier Nady added to the lineup and with Hideki Matsui and Jorge Posada out, we basically had one or two batters over .500. No offense Arod, but if we look at your numbers when we need serious hits this year, you’re not one of those two batters. To make matters even worse, our outfielders wouldn’t even make the little league team! When Bobby Abreau was going after that fly ball last night and bounced off the wall, I was mortified. This guy gets paid millions of dollars. For what??? Then the ball bounces over the head of our other gem of an outfielder, Johnny Damon. What a joke! Maybe Melky Cabrera’s offense is struggling this year. But you have to admit, not having him in the outfield is really hurting our defense. I also think it hurt Robbie Cano’s feelings, cause he’s forgetting to keep his eye on the ball lately. As I write this, the Yankees have come back from a 2 run deficit thanks to Jason Giambi’s pinch hit home run. What’s it gonna be boys, a win or a long winter vacation? I wonder what Don Mattingly is thinking right now.
