Same Sex Marriage – Am I Different?

I love no little nor more than he does.  I try to treat my wife as well as he does.

We care for our home, both inside and out, as much as they do.

We strive to make a good life and even create a family, just like they do.

Okay, so where is the difference?  What did I possibly miss that may have occurred somewhere in this universe that made it “not okay” for 2 people of the same gender to love and be a couple, or spouses.  I understand that Noah’s Ark was collecting the animals two by two.  But let’s face it.  He had limited space on his arc.  This is a huge world we live in.  I realize there are people who think only a man and a woman can procreate.  My response to that – “Get your head out of the sand!”  Science has created a series of new ways to make babies.  While we cannot do it the old fashioned way, we can still enjoy it!

Why do I have to examine my surroundings before I can decide if I can hold her hand in public?  I get jealous of the heterosexual couple walking around holding hands.  Although, what is even sadder to me is that I find myself staring because, even though it is accepted for them, I do not see it enough!

On the evening of June 16, 2008 it finally happened in California – Gay Marriage!  People came from all over the country to take advantage of the no residency requirement for a marriage license.  The New York newspaper was quoted as saying, “Many gay activists are likening the moment to the 1967 Summer of Love, when young people from across the country converged on California in what came to be regarded as the birth of the counterculture.”

Unfortunately, the CounterVulture also reared it’s ugly head and that same paper quoted this 16 year old as saying, “It’s something to just pray about.  It’s not a time to be joyful.”
