Same Sex Marriage – A Good Risk?

Are they really risking anything? Who are “they?” What obligation do I have to “them.” After nearly 4 years of marriage, have I caused harm to “them?” Did anybody even notice! That’s my issue right there. How many people in this country actually know if they are passing by a gay person?  How many people know they are working next to a gay person? How many people know their children are being taught by a gay person… but yet, without even being asked, half the country is trying to mandate what my life should equate to. In studying law, we learn about the requirement that all parties must deal in a good faith manner.

When a man and a woman marry, they vow to take care of each other, treat each other well, and maybe raise a family together. Guess what! When a gay couple marries, they want the same things in life. If both heterosexual and homosexual couples enter into their marriage contracts and attempt to fulfill their obligations in good faith, why should somebody want to judge it? Have they even educated themselves at all??!! If I were asked to have an opinion or make some type of decision on gun control, I would educate myself on the positions before making any determinations.

So, when “Joe Blow” says it’s wrong and marriage should only be between a man and a woman, does he even know why. If the world can just stop for a minute and remember that we are dealing with human beings instead of man, woman, black, white, rich, poor… - maybe we would all live in a happier place. Massachusetts made history by treating people as human beings. Now California is stepping up. Are Massachusettians any worse off taking a risk? Did it really even effect “Joe Blow?” I try not to “mind Joe Blow’s” business and I would appreciate if he would try not to “mind my business.” Let us concentrate on making our country a better place to live. Let us concentrate on taking care of the elderly, the poor and the sick. Let us concentrate on helping people that need our help rather than fighting with those of us who just want to LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST! NO RISK INVOLVED!

Thank god for Massachusetts! Happy Anniversary Baby! Here’s to not only 4 more years, but a lifetime!!

I stopped believing a long time ago that opposition to gay marriage had any basis in rationality that could hold up to the Constitution or deeply held principles of freedom. It is discrimmination practiced based on beliefs rooted in religion. And as we know, no matter what evangelical revisionists want to tell us, there is supposed to be a separation between church and state.
